Step 1: Cutting the yarn

Cut your desired amount of yarn into 6 foot pieces.

Step 2: Knotting the yarn

Fold your 6 foot cut pieces of yarn in half & bring the looped end underneath the wooden dowel.

Pull the loose ends through the loop to secure the yarn onto the dowel.

Step 3: Repeat!

Repeat this process with the yarn until you have your desired amount of yarn on the dowel. Get creative! Develop a pattern with your colors, or even braid a section of the yarn together to give this piece some texture.

Step 4: Twine

Once you have all the yarn on your dowel, grab your twine and cut it to your desired length. The length of your twine will vary depending on how high or low you would like your yarn decor to hang.

Once it's been cut, the twine to the ends of the dowel.

Step 5: Prep yarn for cutting

You may have discovered in your yarn knotting that the bottom of your piece looks a little messy. This is where the masking tape jumps in! Find a flat surface that your decor can hang or lay.

Once your decor is neatly against a flat surface, use masking tape to outline what you want the shape of the bottom of your piece to look like. I crossed my masking tape diagonally across the bottom to create a chevron shape.

Step 6: Snip snip!

After taping down the yarn, use scissors to carefully trim away the excess yarn in a shape that you would like.

And there you have it!! Remove that masking tape, and hang up your new yarn decor somewhere in your humble abode.
